These databases contain general listings of bar codes. Most items will also be listed in our own database, but they may be worth a try if we don't have information for a product.

• UPC Database - Provides over one million items ranging from food and medicine to movies and general merchandise. This database is used by BCScan.
• Check UPC - Another searchable database, though it seems to be missing more products. Largely derived from search bots.
• UPCData.info - Yet another online searchable UPC database.

Category Databases

These sites offer databases for specific types of products.

• Amazon.com Book Search - Scan your bar code into the ISBN field to retrieve more information. This database is used by BCScan.
• Bottle Count - A free service allowing you to catalog your wine collection.
• Google Product Search - Many items in Google's massive shopping search index are searchable by bar code.
• ISBNdb.com - Provides information on over 4 million books. This database is used by BCScan.
• UPC Food Search - Indexes thousands of food products including manufacturer and ingredient information.
• WorldCat - The world's largest library catalog. Search books and find out if it's available in a library near you.
